Shirley Davis - Chairman Originating from a Portscatho/Gerrans family I returned to my roots in 1972 aged almost twenty. Most of my working life has centred around administrative positions involving attendance at, and being part of, hundreds of Committee meetings ranging from District Councils, the Diocesan Church Board, and many local charities and voluntary organisations, where I took minutes and compiled agenda. My current employment involves work with deaf and hard of hearing people in many situations where they would otherwise struggle without assistance. Looking back, I see that past and present experiences are helping in the role of Chairman and see that every step of my life has been, as it were, guiding me along the path towards U3A Roseland and District.
Peter Gane - Treasurer
I
fell in love with the Roseland area when I first came here with my wife,
Annette, some 20 years ago. We planned to retire here and bought a home at
Treworga (or Treworgie) in 1998 in preparation. After
working in Bristol
as a director of subsidiaries of major corporations for 13 years, mainly
responsible for marketing and change management, I finally escaped
corporate life at the end of 2002. My interests include family history, computers and walking our dogs on this beautiful peninsular. I have been involved with the voluntary sector for many years, leading employee volunteering, education and mental health advocacy groups and am currently a trustee of Origo (Cornwall) Ltd which aims to improve and enrich the lives of people with learning disabilities, and of their carers. |
