How we work |

As U3A Roseland and District is so new there is ample opportunity for
you to become involved in one of the many situations vacant. Other people, as
an interim measure, however, are carrying out some of those posts, before
regular holders can be found. Training will be offered for all the posts, and
guidance notes are available. If, however, you find that there is something you
do not know, please ask the Chairman or Treasurer for advice. Guidance and
support will be given you all the way. Important note: It is not necessary for you to become a Committee member to undertake any of these roles. We ask you to come forward to try and help, if you possibly can, in order to take U3A Roseland and District forward, and to relieve the burden falling upon a very few members. Should you wish to consider joining the Committee, guidance notes are available by clicking here. These are all the current vacancies. Each one has an outline of what the post entails and a link to more detailed guidance notes. Either click on the post that interests you or scroll down through the list.
There
is a formula for keeping preparation simple. Members send you copy before a
final date, and you then put the newsletter together. You will have three
proof-readers to ensure the newsletter is sent out as correctly as possible.
Depending on where you live, you will either deliver the copy to the printers
or you may email the finished article to the Chairman who will take it herself
as she lives nearby. Please click here to link to the guidance notes. Newspaper/Magazine Reporter(s ) Articles are sent to The West Briton, Packet Series and the Western Morning News, and need to be written once a month. Just one person, or three, could undertake these tasks. Monthly magazines are between 200 and 400 words to Roseland Magazine and Veryan News. Again, this could be just one person, or two. Experience is not necessary as your work will be
proof-read and then sent to the relevant paper office. Initially, you will make
mistakes and you will learn from those mistakes – that’s life! Please click here to link to the guidance
notes. The candidate for this post should be either able to write minutes already or be willing to learn from a well-experienced ‘teacher’. You may become a member of the Steering Group if you wish, and have the right to speak and vote, or attend as an assistant worker with no rights. Initially, meetings will not take place often so there is plenty of time to become acquainted with the task before the AGM, after which Committee meetings will take place every month in order to progress the work of the organisation and to keep them short. The job is enjoyable, essential, and enlightening. Please click here to link to the Guidance Notes The candidate for this position must be keen to increase activity groups, dedicated to the cause, and diligent and friendly in execution. Duties include encouraging members to participate in current groups whilst actively stimulating potential group leaders to come forward. No experience is necessary, as training will be offered. This post is, questionably, the most rewarding of all U3A tasks. Please click here to link to the guidance notes. | ||||||
