We have sought advice from HM Revenue and Customs, (HMRC) and they have confirmed in writing, that members who are UK taxpayers can request that their subscription be treated as a Gift Aid donation to U3A Roseland and District, meaning we can claim back the basic rate tax they have paid on their income.

That means that for every £1 paid as a subscription, we are able to reclaim an additional 25 pence from HMRC. Until 5th April 2011, the Government will pay an additional 3 pence for every £1 as a transitional relief. So we can recover an additional £4.20 on an annual subscription of £15 at the moment. And what's more, if subscriptions were paid in previous years, we can claim Gift Aid on those too.

We do not ever need to know details of your personal financial circumstances.  All that we ask is that you complete a statement for the Inland Revenue, to the effect that you pay enough tax to cover the amount of your subscription.

You can make a request and declaration by using the online form below or if you prefer, download a form which you can print off, sign and either return in the post, or bring to one of our meetings. If you use the online form, we will send you a copy of the information you have provided as confirmation of receipt. Please note that all fields must be completed before the form can be submitted.
