As a member of U3A Roseland and District, you are entitled to take part in any of the short study courses provided by U3A Online, a partnership between the Third Age Trust in the UK and U3A Online Resources Ltd, based in Australia. There are no entry qualifications required and no credit on completion, as these courses have been designed purely for personal interest and enjoyment in the best traditions of U3A. All of them are undertaken from the comfort of your own home (or wherever you can access the Internet). Originally created for those unable to attend a U3A, they also offer a practical alternative for those who wish to pursue an interest for which there isn't currently sufficient support to form an Activity Group. Courses take 2 forms. Tutored Courses These courses are led by a tutor and consist of a series of units which are worked through to a set timetable. The tutor is available to answer questions and give advice by email and work is submitted for evaluation. In most courses, an email discussion list is set up so that all students can collaborate and discuss points between them. The course fees are currently £15 per course. Untutored Courses These are based on independent study which is undertaken at the student's own pace and to their own schedule. There is no tutor to provide feedback or evaluate work. This type of course has also proved successful for potential Group Leaders since once completed by the indvidual, the study material can also be presented as a work programme in a conventional Activity Group. The course fees for this type of course are currently £8. More information on all courses together with details of how to apply is available by clicking here. | |||||||
